In running, it is man against himself, the cruelest of opponents. The other runners are not the enemies. His adversary lies within him, in his ability with brain and heart to master himself and his emotions. -Glenn Cunningham
Isaac had an amazing season - he is a gifted runner. His coaches refer to him as the 'Caucasian Kenyan'. This year, we saw great strides (no pun intended) in his sportsmanship, his drive and his teamwork. He grew leaps and bounds in his ability. He PR'd almost every race, which made his defeat at Districts all the more bitter. He was hoping to place top 3 to secure a spot in the State Championship, but finished a very close 5th. It was a windy day and I don't think any of the runners PR'd. Of the 4 runners that finished before him, 3 of them are sophomores, so he will be chasing them for the next couple of years. Excellent motivation. To say he was disappointed would be a huge understatement - he is really hard on himself - but he rallied and is looking forward to fall when he starts Cross Country. And to say we are very proud of him would also be a huge understatement.
Isaac- What a great accomplishment and what a goal you have to look forward to!! I imagine you're not looking forward to all that hard work again but I look forward to watching you compete next year. I loved seeing your determination through the pictures and can only imagine how you were feeling each step of the way. It really is inspirational. Hayden is trying to learn to run, maybe you can be his "rabbit" sometime.
